As one of the biggest online betting operators in 2020, it’s only right to have a closer look in our official Betfair review. We will give you a breakdown of its unique offers and major features and see how it stacks up against the competition.
|Betfair review||Our rating|
|Live betting & streaming||4.5/5|
Betfair Welcome Bonus 4/5
New customers registering with Betfair for the first time will be welcomed by an excellent offer. When compared with similar offers provided by other major bookmakers, Betfair’s sign-up offer is fairly easy to use and qualify for.
The current bonus is Up to £100 in free bets, which is a fairly competitive promo. We think you’ll agree with that, should you wish to take it up.
New customer offer. Place 5 x £10 or more bets to receive £20 in free bets. Repeat up to 5 times to receive maximum £100 bonus. Min odds 1/2 (1.5). Exchange bets excluded. T&Cs apply
Besides the sportsbook offer, Betfair also offers welcome bonuses for its other gaming sections such as casino, poker, bingo, etc.
Betfair Betting Markets 4.5/5
There is no doubt that Betfair sports an impressive selection of betting markets. Although you won’t find some of the niche sports you can find with other operators, it covers all the major sports and covers them well. The selection of betting markets for each of the sports is among the best we have seen. It was encouraging to see that Betfair doesn’t fall behind with the trends and that it includes the fledgeling e-sports market into its offer. Although it does fall behind other major operators in terms of games and events covered.
Apart from sports, there are also a handful of non-sporting markets, such as Politics which covers the major – mostly US and Europe-related – political events. A Special Bets section has a multitude of pop culture events, such as the Eurovision, Oscars, the Royal family, and other more ad-hoc markets.
Betfair Odds 4.5/5
While comparing the April 2020 odds with other major operators for the purposes of this Betfair review, we found that they compare very favourably. The football markets, in particular, had higher odds than the competition, while the other markets were mostly on par or higher. Betfair itself boasts the best odds on both the Champions League and the Premier league compared to leading UK bookmakers.
Being that one of Betfair’s main strengths is its betting exchange market, it also offers lay betting. This means that punters can bet against an outcome instead of for it, assuming the role of the bookmaker in the process. They then set the odds of their bet to attract another customer to bet against them. If they win, they take the invested stake. If they lose they will have to pay out the winnings to the other player. It’s an interesting betting concept that involves careful balancing and one that definitely sets the exchange apart.
Betfair Mobile App 5/5
Betfair also offers excellent mobile support with well optimized mobile website and apps. You can download apps for both Android and iOS. During our testing for the purposes of this Betfair review, we haven’t run into any major issues.
The interface was intuitive, with smooth navigation and a clean UI. The iOS app can be downloaded directly from the App Store, while the Android app will have to be sideloaded from Betfair’s website. When it comes to system requirements, the iOS app requires version 10.0, while the Android app requires version 5.0. You shouldn’t run into any compatibility issues.
Betfair Live betting & streaming options 4.5/5
You can find in-play betting on the major betting markets in its offer. At the time of this Betfair review in April 2020, most of the in-play options were centered on football and tennis. The Cash Out option makes the in-play betting experience even more dynamic, as customers can choose to cut their losses if they don’t like how a game is unfolding.
Betfair does not fall behind other top online bookmakers when it comes to Live streaming either. You can tune into live matches when available, as long as you have placed a bet on them, or have a positive account balance. The service comes without any additional charges for all content, except certain horse races and greyhound events. The quality of the streams was excellent across platforms, and we had no trouble accessing it on mobile.
Overall Betfair rating 4.5/5
We conclude this Betfair review with a summary of its services. All in all, we were very pleased with the site as a whole. Its range of betting markets is more than satisfying, as it covers all the major sports and events. We would have liked to see more variety in the e-sports section. Hopefully, more tournaments will appear in the future as the e-sports market continues to grow.
We were also very pleased with the mobile experience. The design of both the apps and the mobile website didn’t leave much to be desired, so people accessing Betfair services won’t find anything missing. Finally, a betting exchange brings a whole different element to online betting and is something worth exploring.
